Completion ceremony held for new factory aimed at increasing production and improving precision of ceramic products for semiconductors.

On July 18, We held a completion ceremony for our new factory in the Takayashiki-nishi district of Tomiya City, Miyagi Prefecture, to increase production of high thermal conductive silicon nitride substrates for power semiconductors.

The completion ceremony was attended by Miyagi Prefecture Governor Murai Yoshihiro, Tomiya City Mayor Wakao Hirotoshi, METI Tohoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry Director-General Satake Yoshinori, landowner and joint implementer of the Tomiya City Takayashiki Nishi Land Readjustment Project, Tohoku Broadcasting Co., Ltd. President Ichiriki Atsuhiko, and joint constructor Kahoku Land Co., Ltd. President Ito Naoki, in addition to JGC HD Chairman, President and CEO Sato and other construction personnel. Governor Murai and Director Satake gave words of congratulations and encouragement as guest speakers.

Toward the realization of a low-carbon and carbon-free society, the market for power semiconductors, which control the power of various devices essential for energy conservation in electric vehicles (EVs), high-speed trains, and industrial equipment, is expected to expand significantly in the long term. In addition, to improve the performance of power semiconductors, it is essential to improve the performance of insulating heat dissipation substrates to efficiently dissipate the heat.

The insulating heat dissipation substrates (high thermal conductive silicon nitride substrates) for power semiconductors that we produce have excellent mechanical and insulation properties in addition to high thermal conductivity, and mass production began in 2020, with a factory for additional production expansion beginning operation at the Tomiya Plant in October 2023. We have now decided to build a new factory in response to further production expansion requests from power semiconductor circuit board manufacturers.
